About
Tea Foundations is made by enthusiasts: people who love tea, brew it in all kinds of teaware and read everything about it they can find.
Who writes it
The articles come from the site's editors, a small group of tea lovers. We are neither tea masters nor scientists, so we rely on people who are: standards, research papers, classical treatises and producers' own records. That is why articles are signed "Editors" rather than with a name.
How the articles are made
Brewing figures, dates, provinces and chemistry are checked against sources before publication. The sources are listed in the footnotes at the end of each article, with links where they exist. We do not make up people, quotes or legends. When a story is known only as tradition, we say so.
An article is updated when we find a mistake or new data. The date of the last substantive edit appears next to the publication date.
Photos and illustrations
Photos from Wikimedia Commons are used only under free licenses, with the author and license credited under the image. The other pictures are generated and carry the caption "Illustration". They are checked against the text: leaf shape, liquor color, how the teaware is built.
Languages
The site is written in English and Russian. The Spanish, Chinese and Thai versions are translated from English and proofread with the help of AI. Where a translation differs from the original, the English text is correct.
